Before initiating the sponsorship process, ensure your company meets the eligibility criteria:
- Trade License: Your business must have a valid UAE trade license.
- Quota Approval: Confirm the permitted number of employee visas based on your business activity and office space.
- Employee Role: The position you're sponsoring must align with the activities listed on your trade license.
Step 2: Obtain an Entry Permit
The entry permit allows the employee to enter the UAE and is the first step in the sponsorship process.
- Submit a visa application via the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) or a free zone authority.
- Required documents include:
- Copy of the employee’s passport.
- Passport-sized photos.
- Copy of the employment contract.
- Valid trade license.
Step 3: Complete Medical Testing
Once the employee arrives in the UAE, they must undergo a mandatory medical examination, which includes:
- Blood tests.
- Chest X-rays.
- Screening for communicable diseases like tuberculosis and HIV.
Step 4: Apply for an Emirates ID
The Emirates ID is a legal requirement for all UAE residents. It serves as the employee’s identification within the country.
- Submit the required documents and medical test results to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP).
- Employees will undergo biometric scans as part of the application process.
Step 5: Process the Residency Visa
The residency visa officially allows the employee to live and work in the UAE. Steps include:
- Stamping the visa in the employee’s passport.
- Providing proof of medical insurance, as health coverage is mandatory in the UAE.
